Computer Usage

Internet access is offered on 13 public access computers for Cherry Valley Public Library District patrons use in reference and research.

The following are the guidelines for acceptable use of the Internet:

  • Internet access is provided for viewing and printing of research and reference materials.
  • Users must comply with all local, state, and federal laws while using
    the Internet, including, but not limited to, those concerning copyright, fraud, privacy, or obscenity. Any illegal or illicit activity is strictly forbidden.
  • Users may not add, delete, or modify the equipment or programs in any way.
  • Internet use is limited to a 60 minute block of time at most stations;
    however, when a need for an extended period of research arises, a patron may request a 30 minute extension of time to use the Internet.
  • The printer is located at the circulation desk. There is a charge of 15ยข per page of printing from a library computer.
  • The Library cannot control the quality of the information available through the Internet and is not responsible for the currency, accuracy, or completeness of it. We encourage patrons to carefully evaluate the material found on the Internet.
  • The Library assumes no liability for anydamage or injury arising from the use of the Internet or its resources.
  • Library staff will assist patrons with Internet use as time and staff knowledge permits.
  • Parents are responsible for monitoring and supervising their children's use of the Internet. Certain sites contain material that is controversial or inappropriate for viewing by children. Parents are expected to monitor internet use by their children, as filters do not assure that controversial sites are blocked 100% of the time.
  • The library reserves the right to limit Internet time by a single patron in order to serve as many patrons requesting Internet service as possible.
  • Failure to comply with any of these rules will be dealt with in accordance with the Patron Conduct policy.
